I found my camera. It was right on the desk, hiding under a pile of fake sunflowers slated for fabric collage.

This isn’t a huge victory. I will probably spend half my day searching for something else I’ve misplaced.

I was making dinner yesterday evening and noticed that the wine & beer bottles sitting on the counter were having a groovy light, love and happiness party on the wall.

bottles-on-the-wall

The green bottle was Red Zeppelin. I don’t remember drinking any of that, so I can’t tell you how it was. I probably didn’t drink any of it. Wine…meh. Probably from being raised in the heart of Finger Lakes Wine Country, I’ve become indifferent to it instead of being a connoisseur.

The brown beer bottle  I can vouch for. Southern Tier Brewery’s Raspberry Wheat. Nice because instead of that annoying “ew, I’m drinking fermented fruit” flavor you get with a lot of fruity beers, this has a genuine raspberry flavor…..but it’s a subtle  hint without being overpowering . That brewery also makes a good IPA but I really want to try their porter & the porter raspberry. I like pale ales but usually I like my beer like I like my humor – dark, quirky & full of substance (ha…you all thought I was gonna say “…like I like my men…”). I LOVE Arrogant Bastard Ale ,which no one seems to like because it’s a REALLY dark and “aggressive” beer. My favorite is still Dixie Lager’s Blackened Voodoo …but I don’t know if I’m imagining things but the flavor now doesn’t seem to be what it was pre-Katrina days. I wonder if it’s all  in my head.

Great. I just made myself sound like the biggest lush ever. I’m really not a lush. I can only count a handful of times I’ve been actually fully intoxicated. The methodical and rigid German comes out in me when it comes to my drinking habits. I tuck the kids into bed, pop a movie in and have a beer. Just one, usually. See, my lushy-ness level is terribly unexciting.

We’ll just not discuss  how I think everything under the sun should have rum in it.

Yesterday morning’s Gluestick Therapy….

You people notice the strangest things  in photos, like the things laying on my desk around the collage.

Email yesterday: “What’s up with the guitar picks with beads?”

Well, it’s an earring of course, like these. You can make your own,easy-peasy and obviously, they’re cooler if the picks have actually been used and not just bought for the purpose of making jewelry. Somewhere around here,I have Mudhoney guitar pick earrings….

I should go look for them.

Now I think I’ll spend my day listening to The Replacements.

A photograph is memory in the raw.  ~Carrie Latet

This was a very bad day. The electric company showed up and wanted $1,300 or that was it for our power. I think I had 13 cents,so we spent a candlelit evening together.

When we walk by this wall, The Boy insists on walking on it. This day,he fell off and landed on the sidewalk below ,hitting the back of his head. Of course, this happened right before naptime and I thought of all the horror stories about kids hitting their head, falling asleep and never waking up again. I poked him every 15 minutes, rousing him enough for him to growl at me ,annoyed to be awaken from napping.

He still wants to walk on the wall.

At the base of a tree in the woods behind our house is an assortment of artifacts, natural and man-made. Some of the rusty twisted metal looks like it’s part of the twigs and ground.

This is The Boy’s train. He has claimed it as his and visits with it when we walk by the antique store. With the $200+ price tag, it might be him someday when he gets a job of his own.

Stuff That Makes My  Life Awesome Currently

♥ making up after having our worst fight in 9 years together. We hadn’t really spoken in nearly a week…nor said “I love you”, which is typically said often and always.

♥ library book sales – 30 books for $5. Today….a bag of books for $2. Please help me find the willpower to not go.

♥ seeing my chiropractor. I love the sound of my spine being alined .That’s a noise even more satisfying than the clink-tinging of stuff being sucked into the vacuum cleaner

♥ sweet potato fries dipped in creamy curry dressing. Since eating them this way last July, I actually have cravings for them this way.

♥ Ruth & Arthur on Six Feet Under. (If you have watched beyond episode ,episode 34,season 3, for the love of all that is good and unholy, DO NOT tell me what happens!) . They are the sweetest couple ever.

♥ my cat earning her keep with her mad mouse-catching skills

♥ snuggling under blankets with a boy in bug pajamas on a chilly autumn morning

♥ how excited that boy is just because he has bug pajamas
