somebody enjoyed his walk to preschool this a.m. (note to self: leave 10 minutes early on snowy days to allow for dawdling)

“Round Things”
from Poems of Rural Life in Common English (1868)]

A fairy ring as round’s the sun,
Beside the lea would bend its rim,
And near at hand the waves would run
Across the pond with rounded brim.
And there, by round-built ricks of hay,
By sun-heat burnt, by sunshine brown’d,
We met in merry ring, to play,
All springing on, and wheeling round.

I was following the pack all swallowed in their coats

December 19, 2008 · 2 Comments

I’m in the middle of a snowcopalypse right now but it’s all good. We wandered out this morning just as the snow started to fall and hit up the library for a stack of movies , as well as dropped by the post office to pick up the latest Netflix. Got milk at the store and grabbed a bag of M & Ms to bake cookies with. The snow was falling rapidly and it took me an hour and an half to run all these errands within a two block (small hick town blocks as opposed to big city blocks) radius.

The three year old did that lovely thing where he sits down in the center of the street at the crosswalk because he has decided that we didn’t cross it correctly the first time and he’d like to go back to the corner and start all over again ( can a 3 year old have OCD? ) . Yes, this is not a good thing to do when there is a snowplow coming down the sidestreet and cars crawling at .2 mph in hazardous, blizzarding conditions. I just LOVE the way it looks when I grab my preschooler by the arm and drag him across the street like he’s a newly felled pine I’m taking home to string with lights and put presents under.

I’m hoping the hubby comes home from work early before they close all the roads. That will suck big fat hairy donkey balls if he’s stuck at work.
